HOW?So, you got a few bucks laying around and you want to do a good thing for the Internet forum you frequent. How do you go about doing this? Well, on the home-page you will find a handy little "Donate" button above the boards. Simply click the button, after which you will be redirected to a secure PayPal page where you can input how much money you want to donate as well as some quick billing info.
After you donate some money, be sure to PM
Spektral on the forums informing him of your donation amount.
WHY?There are many reasons to
donate to us. First, let's see how donating will affect you, the member.
As you know, TalkPark has a feature called "Checks." Checks are basically a forum currency aggregated by posting, winning contests and donations! The exchange rate for Checks and $1 USD is five-to-the-dollar. That means for every dollar you donate, you receive five Checks (we award Checks by the dollar. Donation amounts will be rounded down or up).
As of tpkTwo, Checks will be used to buy an amazing assortment of goods. You will be able to unlock awesome stuff from the forums with your Checks. As time goes on, new items will be added to the TPK Autoshop, such as TalkPark shirts and other cool swag as well as things like Xbox Live subscriptions and much more.
Furthermore, all donators will be memorialized in this thread in a leaderboard.
An upcoming feature are the TPK Trophies. One trophy requires a donation amount of at least $1 and the other requires $5 to unlock.
Also, there is a handy rank on TalkPark called the Beta Tester rank. This rank is unlockable through the Autoshop for a large amount of Checks, but is automatically unlocked after donating at least $25. This also unlocks the shop item, making it that much easier to get the Trophy for buying every item in the shop.
The Beta Tester rank gives you sneak peeks at new skins, features, and content days, weeks or even months before any other members get to see them.
Note that as more people donate, the price to unlock Beta Tester may increase, so grab them while they're cheap!
What do you guys do with the money?[/]100% of the funds donated to TalkPark are USED FOR TALKPARK! You're not donating to put gas in my car or food in my stomach, you're donating so that we can invest the money into things like advertising or professional PR, which brings in hundreds of new members. To run an effective advertising campaign, it will cost us approximately $50 per month, but to run a very successful campaign it may reach up to $100 USD monthly. This is a lot of money, but luckily with your help we can reach that amount fairly quickly. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!
Also, donating keeps this forum going. How? First off, it simply makes it impossible for me to close this place if people invest money in it. But more importantly, advertising campaigns will bring in new members, which in turn will donate more money, which means we can expand this forum greatly, ensuring its lifespan. And you know who will be held accountable for the success? You guys! Because it's YOU guys that had helped get it there in the first place.
WHEN?Now! The sooner you donate the better. Keep in mind that we keep record of ALL donaters. This means that if a month from now we come up with a new initiative to get people sending in money, you will be awarded. All awards are retroactive.
So scour up some change from your car or under your couch. Throw us a dollar. Throw us ten dollars. Throw us a hundred.
Every penny sends us one step further to reaching our goal.
